It’s been insanely crazy around here for the past three weeks and I finally found a few moments to sit down and blog. School’s out, so my time is even more limited. I thought I had everything surrounding Christmas under wraps this year, but somehow every week in December new things keep being added into my schedule. The calmness I usually have at this time of year has evolved into chaos. I’m just trying to roll with it and maintain my sanity.
First, I got another novel up at Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Smashwords. To be followed by it’s appearance on Sony, Kobo, etc. I’ve been working on this series for years, so finally getting this young adult fantasy up is a big deal. If you want to check out my pages at Amazon & Smashwords just follow the links to the right.
“Mira just wanted to control her own magic. She didn’t realize it would take her to a mysterious world where she’d collide with griffins and shape shifters and need to confront a murderous Queen to steal back her sister’s soul.”
The second and third books in the series are waiting to be revised and I hope to finish that in January & February. After school starts again.
I also put up a short story, set in the land of the Black Opal, earlier in the month. It’s currently available at Amazon and Smashwords and will eventually be available at B&N, Sony, Kobo, etc. The rush for putting up books for Christmas has slowed down the distribution systems noticeably. I’ll eventually have this story up here on the website, when life calms down a little. If you buy The Black Opal, you’ll find Adrift is included at the end of the novel.
This has been a huge month of transition. Henry & Rex, our gorgeous Gypsy Horses have finally sold and gone to live in the green fields of Vashon Island. I felt really sad to see them go. They’ve been such a huge part of our lives for the last few years. I miss just looking out the window at them, but mostly their fuzzy coats, the horsey smell and their sweet eyes. They’re quite happy at their new home I hear – even though they don’t get the opportunity to be as lazy there.
With the cash infusion, and not buying hay, there’s been a flurry of shopping. Stocking up on things we’re out of (including many types of tea – must have caffeine) and replacing broken things. My husband got a new laptop, since his old one died a year ago. Yeah, two functional laptops in the house again! Which means I get mine back all to myself! I bought myself a combination – late birthday/early Christmas/horse sale consolation prize. My first ereader, (well, other than my phone) a Kindle Fire. Unfortunately, I haven’t had as much time to play with it as I would have liked, given the chaos.
I have more to say about changes around here and new additions, but I’ll leave it till next time, so I can include pictures.
Now, I really must go do Christmasy things – like wrap presents and cook. My daughter keeps asking if she’s getting anything for Christmas since it’s still bare beneath the tree!
Happy Solstice, Merry Christmas & have a warm, cozy Yule!
