The sun is finally out. For today, at least. Maybe tomorrow as well, but then I’m told the rain will be back. So today I’m celebrating. Working in my outside office and soaking up every ray that I can.
Today’s also another celebration for me. It’s my one year anniversary of starting up Metamorphosis Press and becoming an Indie Publisher! Woot! In the past year I’ve gotten a lot of my previously written things up as well as a huge (for me) amount of new things written and e-published. Next month starts a whole new venture as I begin to get novels and short fiction collections available in print on demand. New learning curve on the horizon.
So for today I celebrated by putting a new cover on a story I published last summer – Smoke & Fire. The old cover just never fit, but I couldn’t find the right photo to use last summer. Since the story’s about a belly dancer, that’s who I really wanted on the cover. Literal me. I’m really happy with the way it turned out. I’m still working on upgrading my tech skills.
And I added a bonus story – Flight – in with it. They should be available tomorrow or shortly thereafter. I’m slowly going through and turning all my first published stories into 2Fers.
And I’ve got a couple more pieces of short fiction that will be coming out in the next two weeks! The summer writing season has begun! Sitting out by the pond, listening to the koi jump, chasing the cats away from butterflies and other flying creatures, diving when our afternoon bat comes out looking for an early dinner, watching the standoff between the neighbor’s chickens and our cats. Lots of distractions. Moving ones at least. I can ignore the weeds! I’m really practiced at that one.
Well, I’m off to clean up a novelette and if I’m really, really lucky, I might be able to squeeze in some downtime before dinner. Ha!
